Grammy Award-winning band Culture Club took over the ‘80s with their catchy pop bangers, such as “Karma Chameleon,” “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” “Time (Clock of the Heart,” “Love is Love,” and many more. The band, led by the illustrious Boy George, became a staple among New Romantic era fans. Formed in 1981, Culture Club is regarded as one of the most successful music groups to come out of the ‘80s. The band has produced and released six highly-acclaimed records and sold over 50 million copies worldwide. Their exemplary music and strong influence on the music scene have earned them multiple accolades, including a Grammy Award, two ASCAP Pop Music Awards, a Billboard Music Award, and three Brit Awards.

Moreover, the band has earned six platinum certifications in the U.K. and seven platinum in the U.S. They have released 12 Top 40 hit singles, while their single, “Time (Clock of the Heart),” was listed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 songs that shaped rock and roll. In 1982, the band had a phenomenal start after their debut album made an immediate breakthrough in the U.K. ad U.S. charts. The record, titled Kissing to be Clever, sold over four million copies worldwide, one million of which were sold in the U.S. The album is most notable for spawning their breakout number 1 single, “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me,” and the critically-acclaimed “Time (Clock of the Heart).” Upon its release, Kissing to Be Clever peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on the U.K. chart. The album’s success also spread across the world, entering the charts in ten other countries.

After their stellar debut, Culture Club released their sophomore effort, Colour By Numbers. The highly-regarded album was preceded by the megahit pop single “Karm Chameleon,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 and the chart in 14 other countries. The single’s success led to the album selling over ten million copies worldwide. In the U.S., Colour By Numbers reached four million copies sold, earning quadruple-platinum status.

Culture Club moved to release several more incredible studio efforts, including their latest release, Life. The album was dropped in 2018 and marked the band’s first full studio album in 19 years. The albums featured three hit singles, “Runaway Train,” “Life,” and “Let Somebody Love You.”
